## Summary of The Hindu Article: Four Held with MDMA in Amberpet, Key Accused Arrested
The Cyberabad Police’s Narcotics Enforcement Wing (NEW) apprehended four individuals in Amberpet, Telangana, with 200 grams of MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine). The operation led to the arrest of the key accused, identified as Syed Abdul Nayeem, a drug peddler with prior cases registered against him.
The initial seizure involved 100 grams of MDMA from two individuals, Mohammed Arif and Sheikh Sohail, near the Amberpet Metro Station. Their interrogation revealed the source as Nayeem, who supplied the drug. Subsequently, police located and arrested Nayeem, recovering an additional 100 grams of MDMA from his possession. A fourth individual, identified as G. Venkatesh, was also apprehended for assisting Nayeem in the distribution network.
Nayeem reportedly sourced the MDMA from a contact in Goa and distributed it through Arif and Sohail, targeting young adults and students in the Hyderabad area. Police investigations indicate Nayeem had been involved in drug peddling for some time, exploiting the demand among youth.
The recovered MDMA is valued at approximately ₹10 lakh in the illicit market. Authorities have seized cash amounting to ₹65,000 from the accused, along with four mobile phones used for coordinating drug transactions.
The Cyberabad Police Commissioner, V.C. Sajjanar, highlighted the ongoing efforts to curb the drug menace in the region and emphasized the police’s commitment to identifying and dismantling drug supply chains. The NEW team is further investigating to identify any additional associates involved in the network and trace the origin of the drugs beyond Goa. The arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody, and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
