Two individuals were arrested in Tirupattur, Tamil Nadu, for allegedly stealing valuables from the Arulmigu Ellamma Kolamman Temple in Natrampalli. The suspects, identified as Manikandan (32) and Kumar (38), both residents of Hosur, were apprehended by a team from the Natrampalli police station following an investigation into the theft reported on May 16th.
Police investigations revealed that the duo had stolen silver ornaments worth approximately ₹80,000 from the temple. The theft occurred during the early hours of May 16th, and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered based on the temple management’s complaint.
Initial inquiries indicated the suspects had previously visited the temple to assess security arrangements before executing the theft. They reportedly gained entry by breaking open the lock on the temple’s main door. Following the arrest, police recovered the stolen silver ornaments from the possession of the accused.
The Tirupattur district police confirmed the recovery of the stolen items and stated that both Manikandan and Kumar have been remanded in judicial custody. Further investigation is underway to determine if the duo were involved in any other similar temple thefts in the region. The police are also exploring potential connections to a network of individuals involved in such crimes.
The successful recovery of the stolen ornaments and the swift arrest of the suspects have been welcomed by the temple management and local residents, restoring a sense of security within the community.
