Chemicals giant BASF’s Global Service Hub, Global Digital Hub in Hyderabad soon

BASF, the world’s largest chemical producer, is establishing a new global service hub and a global digital hub in Hyderabad, India. The facilities represent a significant investment exceeding ₹220 crore and are expected to create approximately 300 jobs initially, with potential for further expansion.

The global service hub will consolidate various support functions including finance, controlling, human resources, procurement, and IT, serving BASF affiliates worldwide. This centralization aims to improve efficiency and standardization of processes. The global digital hub will focus on innovation and the development of digital solutions for BASF’s businesses, leveraging India’s talent pool in data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

The Telangana State government is actively supporting the project, recognizing its potential to boost the state’s economy and establish Hyderabad as a prominent global hub for the chemical and digital industries. The company chose Hyderabad due to the availability of skilled workforce, robust infrastructure, and a supportive business environment.

BASF already has a considerable presence in India, including manufacturing sites, research facilities, and sales offices. This new investment reinforces their long-term commitment to the Indian market and their strategy of expanding operations in Asia. The hubs are planned to be operational in phases, starting in 2024.

The project aligns with BASF’s broader digital transformation agenda, aiming to enhance operational excellence and drive innovation through technology. The Hyderabad hubs will play a crucial role in supporting these goals, contributing to the company’s global competitiveness. The company intends to collaborate with local universities and institutions to foster talent development and build a strong pipeline of skilled professionals. The facilities will be located in the financial district of Hyderabad, providing access to a thriving business ecosystem.
