Collector urges officials to promote online yoga classes

Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna District Collector, P. Raja Babu, has directed officials to actively promote free online yoga classes offered by the Ministry of AYUSH. The initiative aims to enhance public well-being, particularly in light of increasing lifestyle-related health issues. These classes are available through the Yoga at Home platform and are designed to be accessible to all, regardless of age or physical condition.

The Collector emphasized the importance of disseminating information about the classes through various channels, including village secretariats, ward secretariats, and self-help groups. He instructed officials to utilize available communication networks to reach a wider audience and encourage participation. The goal is to make yoga a regular practice for citizens, contributing to improved physical and mental health.

The Yoga at Home platform provides a diverse range of yoga sessions, catering to different levels of experience, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Classes are conducted by certified yoga instructors and cover various aspects of yoga, including asanas, pranayama, and meditation. The online format allows individuals to practice yoga at their convenience and in the comfort of their own homes.

Mr. Raja Babu highlighted the potential of yoga to address common health concerns such as stress, anxiety, diabetes, and hypertension. He noted that regular yoga practice can improve flexibility, strength, and balance, while also promoting relaxation and mental clarity. The initiative aligns with the government’s focus on preventive healthcare and promoting holistic well-being.

Officials were also asked to monitor participation levels and gather feedback from participants to further improve the program. The Collector stressed the need for a collaborative effort between various departments to ensure the success of the initiative and maximize its impact on the health of the district’s population. The program is part of a broader effort by the Ministry of AYUSH to promote yoga and traditional medicine systems across the country.
