The Chittoor District Collector, S. Venkateswar Rao, affirmed that the distribution of Pattadar passbooks in the district is proceeding as per the scheduled timeline, despite some reports suggesting delays. The distribution began on December 25, 2023, and is intended to provide landholders with official documentation confirming their ownership rights.
Approximately 2.75 lakh Pattadar passbooks are slated for distribution across Chittoor district. As of January 3, 2024, over 1.5 lakh passbooks had already been successfully handed over to landowners. The remaining passbooks are expected to be distributed by January 10, 2024, completing the first phase of the program.
The Collector addressed concerns raised regarding delays in certain areas, attributing them to logistical challenges and the large volume of passbooks to be distributed. He clarified that officials are working diligently to resolve these issues and ensure timely delivery to all eligible landowners. Special counters have been established at village secretariats and revenue offices to facilitate the distribution process.
The Pattadar passbooks are a crucial component of the Andhra Pradesh government’s initiative to provide secure land ownership records to farmers and landowners. These passbooks serve as official proof of ownership, simplifying land transactions and providing access to agricultural loans and other government schemes.
The distribution is being overseen by joint collectors, revenue divisional officers, and tahsildars, who are monitoring the progress and addressing any grievances. Landowners are encouraged to collect their passbooks from the designated distribution centers during the specified timeframe. The Collector emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that all eligible landowners receive their Pattadar passbooks without any undue delay. The initiative aims to create a transparent and reliable land record system in the district.
