SSC pass percentage in Maharashtra drops for third consecutive year

## Maharashtra SSC Results 2024: Summary

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) announced the results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination on May 21, 2024.

**Overall Pass Percentage:** 78.17% – a decrease from last year’s 85.19%. This marks the third consecutive year of declining pass percentages.

**Regional Performance:**
* Konkan division recorded the highest pass percentage at 91.95%.
* Kolhapur division had the lowest pass percentage at 72.44%.
* Other divisions and their pass percentages: Pune (88.95%), Mumbai (86.88%), Nagpur (83.48%), Aurangabad (78.89%), Latur (77.58%), and Amravati (73.91%).

**Gender Gap:**
* Girls outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 85.26%.
* Boys achieved a pass percentage of 71.27%.

**Student Performance:**
* A total of 16,03,299 students appeared for the exam.
* 12,53,449 students passed.
* 4,49,850 students failed.

* Total number of schools: 9,938
* Number of regular students: 15,59,133
* Number of repeaters: 44,166
* Number of private candidates: 51,999

**Notable Trends:**
* The gap between the pass percentages of girls and boys continues to be significant.
* Konkan division consistently demonstrates high performance.
* Kolhapur division consistently shows lower performance compared to other regions.
* The overall decline in pass percentage raises concerns about the impact of pandemic-related disruptions and changes in examination patterns.
