Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has requested Governor R.N. Ravi to immediately initiate the process for forming a new government following the DMK-led alliance’s victory in the Lok Sabha elections. Stalin emphasized the urgency, citing the need for a stable government to address pressing state issues.
The DMK alliance secured all 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu, a clean sweep reflecting strong voter support. Stalin highlighted this decisive mandate as a clear indication of the people’s faith in the alliance and their rejection of the BJP-led central government’s policies.
In his letter to the Governor, Stalin pointed out that the current government enjoys a comfortable majority in the Assembly and is capable of effectively addressing the state’s needs. He stressed the importance of a swift transition to ensure continuity in governance and the implementation of ongoing welfare schemes.
The request comes amidst ongoing discussions regarding the formation of a new government at the Centre, where the BJP failed to secure a majority. Stalin’s letter aims to preempt any potential delays in government formation within Tamil Nadu, ensuring the state can continue its development trajectory without interruption.
The Governor’s response is keenly awaited, as his decision will determine the timeline for the swearing-in ceremony of the new government. Political analysts suggest the Governor is likely to act swiftly, given the clear mandate received by the DMK alliance.
Stalin also reiterated the alliance’s commitment to social justice, secularism, and federalism, principles that guided their election campaign and resonated with the electorate. He expressed confidence that the new government will work tirelessly to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Tamil Nadu and contribute to the nation’s progress. The DMK views this victory as a mandate for continuing its pro-people policies and strengthening the state’s autonomy.
