Telangana CM Revanth directs police to minimise public inconvenience during VIP movement

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed the state police to prioritize minimizing public inconvenience during VIP movements. He expressed concern over recent disruptions caused by traffic restrictions for VVIPs, acknowledging citizen complaints regarding delays and hardships.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to develop a comprehensive plan ensuring smooth traffic flow even during VIP processions. This includes exploring alternative routes, coordinating with traffic police for real-time adjustments, and utilizing technology for effective traffic management. He emphasized the need to balance security protocols with the public’s right to unhindered movement.

Specifically, Revanth Reddy called for advance planning and dissemination of information regarding traffic diversions to the public through various channels like social media, local news, and public announcements. He wants clear communication to allow citizens to plan their journeys accordingly.

He also directed the police to strictly adhere to protocols regarding the number of vehicles in a VIP convoy, reducing it to the bare minimum necessary for security. The focus should be on swift and secure movement, not a large display of vehicles causing extensive traffic blockages.

The CM further instructed officials to consider the timing of VIP movements, avoiding peak hours whenever possible to lessen the impact on commuters. He stressed that public service should be the primary concern, and security arrangements should be implemented in a manner that respects citizens’ time and convenience.

The directive follows public criticism of traffic disruptions caused by recent VVIP visits, including those of the President and Prime Minister. The government aims to address these concerns and improve the overall experience for citizens during VIP movements, ensuring a balance between security and public accessibility. The police department has been asked to submit a detailed action plan outlining the implementation of these guidelines.
