NPDCL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) inspected the 8 MW solar power plant at Jakranpally, Siddipet district, Telangana. The plant, commissioned in January 2024, is expected to generate 32,000 units of electricity daily and approximately 1.17 crore units annually.
The project was developed by the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Telangana Limited (NREDCAP) and is connected to the 132 KV grid at Jakranpally substation. It aims to provide power to approximately 8,000 agricultural pump sets, supporting the state government’s free electricity scheme for farmers.
The CMD expressed satisfaction with the plant’s performance and quality of construction. He highlighted the plant’s contribution to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable energy. The project utilizes approximately 20,000 solar panels and is designed for efficient energy generation even during cloudy conditions.
NPDCL is actively working on establishing more solar power plants across Telangana to increase the share of renewable energy in the state’s power mix. The company plans to add significant solar capacity in the coming years, aiming to meet the growing energy demands while minimizing environmental impact.
The Jakranpally plant represents a key component of Telangana’s broader renewable energy strategy, which includes solar, wind, and hydro power projects. The state government is committed to increasing renewable energy capacity to reduce reliance on conventional power sources and promote a cleaner energy future. The inspection focused on ensuring the plant’s operational efficiency and adherence to safety standards. Officials discussed strategies for optimal plant maintenance and performance monitoring.
