A pastor in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act following allegations of sexual assault of a minor girl. The accused, identified as P. Yesuratnam, was the pastor of a local church.
The incident came to light after the girl’s parents filed a complaint with the Eluru Town Police on February 28th, alleging that the pastor had repeatedly sexually assaulted their daughter over a period of time. The parents stated they discovered the abuse after noticing behavioral changes in their daughter.
Police immediately registered a case and apprehended Yesuratnam. Initial investigation and the girl’s statement corroborated the allegations. She was sent for medical examination, the results of which are pending.
