A 65-foot-tall Trishul (trident) is set to be unveiled at Kailasagiri hill in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday, February 17th. The structure is intended to become a landmark and a major tourist attraction for the city.
The Trishul is constructed with steel and is designed to be visible from a distance of 10-15 kilometers. It stands on a 50-foot pedestal, bringing the total height to 115 feet. The project was initiated by Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) as part of efforts to enhance Kailasagiri’s appeal.
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will inaugurate the Trishul along with several other development projects at Kailasagiri, including a children’s park, a musical fountain, and upgraded landscaping. These improvements aim to position Kailasagiri as a premier tourist destination in the state.
The APTDC has invested approximately ₹80 crore in the overall development of Kailasagiri, with the Trishul project accounting for a significant portion of the expenditure. Officials anticipate a substantial increase in tourist footfall following the inauguration.
Kailasagiri, already a popular spot known for its scenic views and statues, currently attracts around 40,000 visitors daily. The APTDC expects this number to rise considerably with the new attractions. The Trishul is expected to particularly draw devotees and those interested in religious tourism.
The unveiling ceremony will include cultural programs and events, further adding to the festive atmosphere. The APTDC is also focusing on improving infrastructure and facilities at Kailasagiri to accommodate the anticipated surge in visitors, including parking and transportation arrangements. The project aims to boost tourism revenue and promote Visakhapatnam as a key tourist hub.
