BRS leaders hit out at Congress govt’s ‘selective action’

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders have strongly criticised the Congress governments in Telangana and Karnataka, alleging selective action and political vendetta in the ongoing investigations into various cases. They claim the Congress is targeting opposition leaders while shielding its own.

The primary point of contention revolves around the alleged preferential treatment given to Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar in Karnataka, with BRS leaders pointing to the slow pace of investigations against him despite serious allegations. Conversely, they highlight the swift action taken against former Minister K.T. Rama Rao and other BRS figures in Telangana, accusing the Congress government of using state machinery for political gains.

BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao accused the Congress of hypocrisy, stating that their claims of fighting corruption ring hollow when their own leaders are seemingly protected. He questioned the rationale behind the differing speeds of investigation, suggesting a clear bias.

Other BRS leaders echoed these sentiments, alleging that the Congress government in Telangana is deliberately attempting to tarnish the image of the BRS by exaggerating allegations and conducting politically motivated inquiries. They specifically mentioned the investigation into the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project, claiming the Congress is attempting to find fault where none exists.

The BRS argues that the Congress is attempting to divert public attention from its failures to fulfill its electoral promises by focusing on targeting opposition leaders. They maintain that the investigations are a deliberate attempt to weaken the BRS ahead of future elections.

BRS leaders have vowed to fight these allegations and expose what they perceive as the Congress’s double standards and political maneuvering. They are preparing to counter the Congress’s narrative and defend the reputation of BRS leaders. The party intends to highlight the developmental works undertaken during the previous BRS government and contrast them with the current administration’s actions.
