M.A. Baby dismisses DMK-AIADMK alliance rumours, urges Governor to invite TVK to form government

M.A. Baby, CPI(M) State secretary in Tamil Nadu, has refuted claims of a potential alliance between the DMK and AIADMK following the recent election results. He dismissed these rumours as baseless and politically motivated, asserting that such a coalition is highly improbable given the historical and ideological differences between the two parties.

Baby emphasized the Tamil Nadu Voters State Forum (TVK)’s performance in the election, highlighting their significant vote share and two seats won. He argued that the TVK represents a substantial political force and deserves consideration in government formation.

He has formally requested Governor R.N. Ravi to invite TVK leader T. Velmurugan to form the government, citing the party’s electoral success and the need to respect the democratic mandate. Baby believes the TVK offers a viable alternative to the established political players.

The CPI(M) State secretary criticized both the DMK and AIADMK for what he described as a decline in their political relevance and their failure to address the concerns of the people effectively. He positioned the TVK as a fresh and responsive political entity capable of representing the interests of Tamil Nadu’s citizens.

Baby further stated that the CPI(M) will continue to function as a constructive opposition, holding the ruling government accountable and advocating for the welfare of the people. He reiterated the party’s commitment to secular and democratic values.

The request to the Governor is based on the argument that the TVK, despite not having a majority, secured a noteworthy portion of the vote and should be given an opportunity to demonstrate its ability to form a government. This move signals a potential shift in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape and a challenge to the dominance of the DMK and AIADMK.
