Rahul Gandhi, addressing a rally in Haryana’s Jind, asserted that the Congress party is the sole force capable of challenging the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ideologically and politically. He framed the upcoming Lok Sabha election as a battle of ideologies, positioning the Congress as the defender of the Constitution and democratic principles against what he described as the BJP’s attempts to undermine them.
Gandhi criticized the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging a systematic effort to erode constitutional institutions and suppress dissent. He specifically mentioned the alleged misuse of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to target opposition leaders. He claimed these actions are designed to silence critics and consolidate power.
He further accused the BJP of favoring a select few industrialists, leading to increased economic inequality. Gandhi stated that the wealth generated by the Indian people is being concentrated in the hands of a small group, while farmers and laborers are struggling. He contrasted this with the Congress’s commitment to social justice and inclusive growth.
The Congress leader highlighted the party’s focus on issues like farmer distress, unemployment, and inflation. He reiterated the promise of a nationwide caste census, arguing it is crucial for understanding social realities and ensuring equitable distribution of resources. He also emphasized the need to protect the reservation system for marginalized communities.
Gandhi criticized the BJP’s economic policies, particularly the farm laws which were later repealed following widespread protests. He accused the government of working against the interests of farmers and prioritizing corporate profits. He also spoke about the importance of protecting the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), calling it a vital safety net for rural populations.
He urged Congress workers to actively participate in the election campaign and convey the party’s message to the masses, emphasizing the need to safeguard the Constitution and democratic values. He believes a Congress victory is essential to restore these principles and ensure a more just and equitable India.
