TCS case: Nida Khan sent to police custody till May 11; AIMIM corporator booked for harbouring her

:

Nida Khan, the woman at the center of a dispute involving allegations against Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employees, has been sent to police custody until May 11th. She was remanded by a court in Maharashtra’s Palghar district.

The case stems from Nida Khan’s claims of harassment and illegal confinement by TCS employees, alleging they pressured her to retract a molestation complaint against one of them. Police have registered a case against several TCS employees based on her complaint, including charges under sections related to kidnapping, wrongful confinement, and criminal intimidation.

Simultaneously, an AIMIM corporator, Abdul Wahid Shaikh, has been booked for allegedly harbouring Nida Khan and her husband, Sayyed Jafar, at his residence. Police allege Shaikh concealed their whereabouts to obstruct the investigation. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Shaikh and others under sections of the Indian Penal Code related to harbouring an offender and obstructing a public servant.

Police initiated action after a court directed them to investigate a complaint filed by one of the accused TCS employees, Bipin Kohli, who alleged that Nida Khan and her husband were deliberately avoiding service of summons. Kohli claimed they were residing at Shaikh’s residence to evade the legal process.

The police conducted a search at Shaikh’s residence and took Nida Khan into custody. Her husband, Sayyed Jafar, was already in police custody in connection with a separate case related to alleged extortion attempts.

The investigation is now focused on verifying Nida Khan’s allegations against the TCS employees and the extent of Shaikh’s involvement in allegedly sheltering her and obstructing the investigation. Police are seeking to ascertain the reasons behind Nida Khan’s initial reluctance to cooperate with the investigation and the alleged pressure exerted upon her. The court has granted police time to question Nida Khan and gather further evidence.
