Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav dismissed claims made by the YSR Congress Party (YSRC) regarding Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s influence in the victory of Tamil Nadu’s TVK (Tamizhaga Vetrimaraindhukal Kazhagam) party in the recent Lok Sabha elections. He labelled the YSRC’s assertions as “laughable” and “baseless.”
The YSRC had suggested that Jagan Mohan Reddy’s strategies and advice contributed to TVK founder T. Velmurugan’s win in Dharmapuri. Yadav countered this, stating that TVK’s victory was a result of local factors and the party’s own efforts, not external intervention. He emphasized that the people of Dharmapuri directly voted for TVK based on their own assessment of the candidate and the party’s promises.
Yadav criticized the YSRC for attempting to take credit for another party’s success, suggesting it was a desperate attempt to deflect attention from their own electoral performance and the growing dissatisfaction with their governance in Andhra Pradesh. He pointed out the YSRC’s own struggles in the recent elections and implied their claims were a way to portray relevance.
He further stated that the people of Tamil Nadu are politically aware and would not be swayed by attempts to attribute TVK’s victory to someone from another state. He reiterated that TVK’s success was solely due to the candidate’s appeal and the local electorate’s decision.
Yadav’s response highlights the political rivalry between the YSRC and other parties, and underscores the YSRC’s attempts to expand its influence beyond Andhra Pradesh. The minister’s strong denial aims to debunk the YSRC’s narrative and reinforce the idea that TVK’s victory was an independent achievement. He accused the YSRC of making false claims to mislead the public.
