Drone flying banned over key Hyderabad areas ahead of PM Modi’s visit

## Summary of The Hindu Article: Drone Flying Banned Over Hyderabad Ahead of PM Modi’s Visit

Hyderabad City Police have imposed a comprehensive ban on drone operations within a 3km radius of key locations in Hyderabad ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on March 4th and 5th. The restrictions are in effect from March 4th at 6:00 AM to March 5th at 11:59 PM.

The prohibited areas include the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad, the Begumpet Airport, the PM’s scheduled venues – LB Stadium and Secunderabad Railway Station – as well as surrounding areas. Specifically, the ban covers areas around Charminar, Golconda Fort, and the Telangana State Secretariat.

The order explicitly prohibits the use of drones for photography, videography, or any other purpose. This measure is taken to maintain security and prevent any potential threats during the Prime Minister’s visit. The police cite concerns regarding potential unlawful activities and maintaining public order as the rationale for the ban.

Violators of this order will face prosecution under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), along with relevant provisions of the Aircraft Act, 1934, and the Aircraft Rules, 1937.

The police commissionerate has urged citizens to cooperate with the restrictions and has stated that the order is a precautionary measure to ensure a safe and secure environment during the high-profile visit. The order applies to all types of drones, including those operated by individuals, private entities, and commercial organizations.

Exemptions to the ban are limited and require prior permission from the police commissioner. The police have established a dedicated control room to monitor the implementation of the drone ban and address any related concerns. The overall aim is to prevent any unauthorized aerial surveillance or interference with security arrangements during PM Modi’s engagements in Hyderabad.
