18 Russian medical varsities to take part in education fair

Eighteen Russian medical universities will participate in an education fair in Chennai on July 6th and 7th, organized by “Study in Russia” – a Russian government scholarship program. The fair aims to provide Indian students with information about pursuing medical education in Russia, including admission procedures, scholarship opportunities, and living conditions.

The event is particularly relevant given the increasing number of Indian students seeking affordable and quality medical education abroad, especially after facing challenges with NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) and limited seats in Indian medical colleges. Russia has emerged as a popular destination due to its relatively lower tuition fees and globally recognized medical degrees.

Participating universities offer courses in English, addressing a key concern for many Indian students. The fair will allow prospective students to directly interact with representatives from these universities and clarify their doubts. Information regarding the MD (Doctor of Medicine) program, which is a six-year course including pre-medical studies, will be readily available.

“Study in Russia” offers a significant number of scholarships to Indian students covering tuition fees, accommodation, and a monthly stipend. The fair will detail the application process for these scholarships. The organizers highlight Russia’s well-established medical education system, with a long history of training international students.

The event is expected to attract a large number of students and parents from Tamil Nadu and neighboring states. It will be held at the Chennai Trade Centre. The fair intends to facilitate a streamlined process for Indian students interested in applying to Russian medical universities for the upcoming academic year. The organizers emphasize the safety and security of international students in Russia, addressing potential concerns. The event is supported by the Russian Embassy in India and aims to strengthen educational ties between the two countries.
