Govt. will resolve Sada Bainama cases within 35 days: Ponguleti

Telangana State government has committed to resolving all ‘Sada Bainama’ cases within 35 days. This decision follows a meeting with representatives of various farmer organizations led by Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who recently joined the Congress party.

‘Sada Bainama’ refers to registered sale deeds executed before 1985, often involving small landholdings, where the land transfer wasn’t fully documented or lacked proper registration, creating ambiguity in land ownership. These cases have been a long-standing issue for farmers, preventing them from accessing benefits like loan waivers, investment schemes, and secure land titles.

The government will form a special cell with officials from the Revenue, Registration, and Legal departments to expedite the resolution process. This cell will review each case, verify documents, and facilitate the completion of land transfer procedures.

Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy stated that approximately 8 to 10 lakh acres of land are affected by these ‘Sada Bainama’ issues across Telangana. Farmers have been facing difficulties in obtaining Pattadar passbooks (land ownership certificates) due to the incomplete documentation.

The government’s move is expected to benefit a large number of farmers, providing them with legal certainty over their land ownership. This will enable them to avail government schemes and access credit facilities. The quick resolution timeframe of 35 days indicates a strong commitment from the government to address this long-pending issue.

Farmer organizations have welcomed the decision, expressing hope that it will bring relief to the affected landowners. The government has assured full support and cooperation to the special cell to ensure the timely completion of the process. The focus will be on simplifying procedures and removing obstacles to facilitate smooth land transfers.
