Union Minister Sanjay Kumar’s son, Shreyas Kumar, has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, alongside charges of extortion and criminal conspiracy. This follows a complaint filed by a 17-year-old girl alleging sexual harassment and threats. Simultaneously, Shreyas Kumar has filed a counter-complaint accusing the girl and her father of attempting to extort ₹10 crore from him.
The initial complaint, registered at the Jubilee Hills police station in Hyderabad, details allegations of harassment spanning several months. The girl claims Shreyas Kumar subjected her to unwanted advances and threatened to circulate compromising photos if she resisted. Police initiated an investigation based on this complaint, leading to the POCSO Act being invoked.
In response, Shreyas Kumar filed a counter-complaint alleging the girl and her father demanded ₹10 crore to not reveal fabricated information about him. He claims this was a deliberate attempt to blackmail and defame him. Police have registered a case based on his complaint as well, investigating the extortion allegations.
The case has drawn significant attention due to the high profile of the individuals involved. Police are currently collecting evidence, including digital records and statements from both parties and witnesses. They are treating both complaints seriously and conducting parallel investigations.
The girl has been sent for medical examination, and her statement was recorded before a magistrate. Police are focusing on verifying the authenticity of the alleged compromising photos and the details surrounding the alleged extortion attempt.
Several teams have been formed to gather evidence and ensure a thorough investigation. The situation remains fluid, with police emphasizing their commitment to a fair and impartial inquiry, regardless of the individuals involved. The case is likely to be transferred to the Central Crime Station (CCS) for further investigation due to its sensitive nature and complexity.
