**Tamil Nadu Prison Department Class 12 Exam Results – Summary**
A total of 9,833 inmates appeared for the Tamil Nadu State Board Class 12 exams this year.
9,522 inmates successfully passed the exams.
This represents a pass percentage of 96.81%.
The results show a significant improvement compared to last year’s pass percentage of 88.73%.
The prisons department facilitated study classes within the prisons, with teachers from government schools providing instruction.
Subjects with notable performance:
* Commerce: 98.45% pass rate
* Arts & Science stream: 96.48% pass rate.
The highest marks obtained by an inmate were 1,132 out of 1,200.
The prison department initiated the educational program to provide inmates with opportunities for rehabilitation and skill development.
The program covers classes from 8th standard to 12th standard, including Open School programs.
Currently, approximately 1,300 inmates are enrolled in various educational programs within the prisons.
The initiative aims to equip inmates with qualifications that enhance their prospects upon release and contribute to their reintegration into society.
The Director General of Police (Prison) expressed satisfaction with the results and highlighted the positive impact of education on inmate reform.
The program is being implemented across all central prisons in Tamil Nadu.
