Nandyal District Collector Ch. Sridhar Krishna has informed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy about significant administrative challenges stemming from numerous vacant key posts within the district administration. These vacancies are hindering effective governance and impacting the implementation of welfare schemes.
Specifically, the district faces shortages in crucial positions including the District Revenue Officer (DRO), Additional Joint Collector (ADC), and Deputy Collector positions across multiple revenue divisions (Kalva, Nandyal, and Allagadda). Several Mandal Parishad Development Officers (MPDOs) are also missing, alongside vacancies for Tahsildars in Nandyal and Bannur, and Circle Inspectors in various police stations.
The Collector highlighted that the lack of personnel is creating an increased workload for existing staff, leading to delays in addressing public grievances and processing important files. This situation is particularly problematic for land-related issues, revenue recovery, and maintaining law and order. The implementation of government programs, including those related to housing, agriculture, and social welfare, is also being negatively affected.
Krishna requested the Chief Minister’s intervention to expedite the filling of these vacant posts through direct recruitment or transfers. He emphasized the urgency of the matter, stating that the administrative efficiency of Nandyal district is severely compromised without adequate staffing. The Collector assured the CM that once the positions are filled, the district administration will be able to function more effectively and deliver better services to the public.
The issue was raised during a recent Spandana program, a platform for public grievance redressal, where the Collector brought the matter to the Chief Minister’s attention. The CM reportedly assured to look into the issue and take necessary steps to address the staff shortage.
