National Lok Adalat in Koppal on July 11

A National Lok Adalat will be held in Koppal, Karnataka on July 11th, 2024. The event aims to facilitate the settlement of pending cases, including those pre-litigation and those already filed in courts.

Organized by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, the Lok Adalat will focus on resolving disputes across various categories: criminal compoundable offenses, civil suits (property disputes, recovery cases), family disputes (divorce, custody), labour disputes, land acquisition cases, cheque bounce cases, and motor accident claims.

The primary objective is to reduce the burden on courts and provide a speedy and cost-effective alternative dispute resolution mechanism for litigants. This will be achieved through conciliation and mediation facilitated by legal professionals.

Arrangements have been made at the District Court premises in Koppal to accommodate the large number of anticipated cases. Benches will be constituted with judges and advocates to hear and attempt to settle the disputes.

Parties are encouraged to participate and present their cases directly before the Lok Adalat benches. This offers a chance to resolve issues amicably without prolonged court battles.

Prior to the event, efforts are underway to identify and inform potential litigants about the Lok Adalat and its benefits. This includes reaching out to those with pending cases in various courts and pre-litigation disputes.

The organizers anticipate a significant number of cases will be taken up during the National Lok Adalat, contributing to the overall efficiency of the judicial system and providing relief to litigants. The event is part of a nationwide initiative to promote alternative dispute resolution methods.

District Legal Services Authority officials are actively involved in the preparations and will assist litigants in understanding the process and accessing the Lok Adalat. The event is expected to be a substantial step towards reducing pendency and ensuring access to justice for all.
