Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced the state government will bear the additional costs incurred by pilgrims undertaking the Haj pilgrimage this year, due to increased travel expenses. This covers the increase in airfare and other charges, ensuring pilgrims are not financially burdened.
The government also committed to establishing minority residential degree colleges in every district of Telangana. Currently, these colleges exist in Hyderabad and other urban centers, and expanding access statewide is a priority. The aim is to provide quality higher education opportunities to students from minority communities, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Further, the CM announced the government will reinstate scholarships that were previously cancelled, benefiting minority students pursuing professional courses. These scholarships will alleviate the financial strain of higher education.
A special officer will be appointed to address grievances related to Wakf properties. The government intends to protect Wakf lands and ensure their proper utilization for the benefit of the minority community. A comprehensive survey of Wakf properties will be conducted to identify and resolve issues related to ownership and encroachment.
The government will also provide financial assistance to mosques and churches for repairs and maintenance. This support acknowledges the importance of religious institutions in the community.
Regarding employment, the CM stated the government is committed to providing reservations for minorities in government jobs, adhering to constitutional provisions. Efforts will be made to ensure fair representation of minority communities in all government sectors.
The announcements were made during a meeting with representatives from various minority communities, including Muslims and Christians, at Pragati Bhavan. The CM emphasized the government’s commitment to inclusive governance and the welfare of all sections of society. He also assured continued support for minority welfare programs and initiatives.
