12 new dialysis centres will be set up in A.P., says Health Minister Satya Kumar

Andhra Pradesh will establish 12 new dialysis centres across the state, bringing the total to 78, according to Health Minister Vidadala Satya Kumar. These centres will be set up in areas with high demand and limited access to dialysis services.

The initiative aims to improve healthcare access for patients with kidney disease, reducing the burden on existing facilities and minimizing travel distances for patients requiring regular dialysis. The centres will operate under the Dr. YSR Aarogyasri scheme, providing free dialysis to eligible beneficiaries.

Currently, 66 dialysis centres are functional in the state, having provided over 8.7 lakh dialysis sessions since the launch of the Dr. YSR Aarogyasri scheme. The government has allocated ₹10 crore for the establishment of these new centres, encompassing infrastructure, equipment, and staffing.

Each centre will be equipped with modern dialysis machines and staffed by trained technicians and medical personnel. The centres will adhere to strict quality control measures to ensure patient safety and effective treatment.

Minister Satya Kumar highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh and ensuring affordable and accessible healthcare for all citizens. He emphasized the importance of early detection and management of kidney disease to prevent complications and improve patient outcomes.

The government is also focusing on raising awareness about kidney disease and promoting preventive measures. Regular health check-ups are encouraged, particularly for individuals with risk factors such as diabetes and hypertension. The expansion of dialysis facilities is a key component of the state’s broader healthcare strategy to address the growing prevalence of chronic kidney disease. The new centres are expected to significantly enhance the capacity to provide life-saving dialysis treatment to those in need.
