Malkajgiri Police Commissioner (CP) D.S. Chauhan conducted a surprise, undercover assessment of women’s safety in the Malkajgiri zone late at night, disguising himself as a civilian. The operation, undertaken between 11 PM and 2 AM, aimed to directly observe the ground reality of safety measures and police visibility.
Chauhan, dressed in plain clothes, walked through key areas known for public movement, including markets, bus stops, and isolated stretches. He focused on areas surrounding railway stations, particularly Malkajgiri and Secunderabad, and assessed the presence of patrolling officers and the general atmosphere.
The CP observed instances of inadequate lighting in certain areas, potentially creating vulnerabilities for women. He also noted the presence of anti-social elements loitering in public spaces. Following the assessment, Chauhan directed officers to enhance patrolling, particularly during late hours, and improve street lighting in identified vulnerable locations.
He instructed officials to increase the deployment of plainclothes police personnel to deter potential offenders and build confidence among citizens. Emphasis was placed on quick response to distress calls and proactive engagement with the public.
The operation resulted in the detention of several individuals for suspicious activity and the registration of cases against those found violating the law. Chauhan emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring and improvement of safety measures, stating that such undercover operations will be conducted regularly to ensure a secure environment for women and all citizens. He also encouraged public participation in reporting suspicious activities and providing feedback to the police. The initiative is part of a broader effort to improve law and order and enhance public trust in the Malkajgiri police commissionerate.
