Eisai Pharmaceuticals India has donated ₹45 lakh to the Paediatric Surgery Department of King George Hospital (KGH) in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The funds are intended to enhance medical facilities and improve care for children requiring surgical intervention.
The donation will specifically be used to procure essential equipment, including a C-arm machine, a vital tool for intraoperative imaging during surgeries, and an electrocautery unit, crucial for precise tissue cutting and coagulation. These additions aim to modernize the department and enable surgeons to perform complex procedures with greater accuracy and safety.
KGH’s Paediatric Surgery Department handles a significant volume of cases, serving not only Visakhapatnam but also patients from surrounding districts and states. The department performs a wide range of surgeries, addressing congenital anomalies, trauma cases, and other paediatric surgical needs.
Hospital Superintendent Dr. P.V. Ramakrishna expressed gratitude for Eisai’s contribution, highlighting its positive impact on the department’s ability to provide quality healthcare to children. He noted the increasing demand for paediatric surgical services and emphasized the importance of such philanthropic support.
Eisai Pharmaceuticals India’s Managing Director, Sanjit Singh, stated the donation reflects the company’s commitment to social responsibility and its dedication to improving healthcare access. He emphasized Eisai’s focus on contributing to the well-being of communities where it operates.
The donation is expected to significantly benefit hundreds of children annually, reducing waiting times for surgeries and improving post-operative outcomes. KGH officials confirmed the equipment procurement process has begun and anticipates installation within a short timeframe, immediately bolstering the department’s capabilities. This contribution underscores a collaborative effort between the pharmaceutical company and the public hospital to address critical healthcare needs in the region.
