District Legal Services Authority urges litigants to utilise Special Lok Adalat

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in Andhra Pradesh’s NTR district is encouraging litigants to utilize a special Lok Adalat scheduled for March 9th, 2024. The Lok Adalat aims to resolve pending cases, focusing on those related to cheque bounces, bank recoveries, electricity bills, and matrimonial disputes.

The DLSA emphasizes the benefits of Lok Adalats, including quicker resolution of disputes, reduced court costs, and a more amicable settlement process compared to traditional litigation. Litigants can directly approach the DLSA with their cases or participate through their advocates.

Specifically, cases involving Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act (cheque bounce cases), cases filed by banks for recovery of loans, disputes concerning electricity bill payments, and divorce/family law matters are prioritized. The DLSA is actively reaching out to parties involved in these case types to encourage their participation.

The special Lok Adalat will be held at the District Court premises in Vijayawada. A total of 1,850 cases have been identified for potential resolution during this event. Previous Lok Adalats have demonstrated success in resolving a significant number of cases, providing relief to litigants and reducing the burden on the courts.

DLSA Secretary M. Rama Devi has requested all concerned parties to cooperate and make use of this opportunity to settle their disputes peacefully. Advocates are also urged to advise their clients to participate in the Lok Adalat. The initiative aims to expedite justice delivery and promote a harmonious resolution of legal conflicts within the district. Further details and assistance can be obtained from the DLSA office.
