Welfare schemes should reach the common man: Deputy CM

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the need for welfare schemes to genuinely benefit the common people, not just remain on paper. He addressed officials during a review meeting of the Group-I services officers at the MCRHRD Institute in Hyderabad, focusing on effective implementation and monitoring of government programs.

Vikramarka highlighted shortcomings in previous scheme implementations, where benefits didn’t reach intended recipients due to various issues including corruption and inefficient delivery systems. He stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in all government operations.

The Deputy CM directed officials to prioritize field-level visits to assess the actual impact of schemes and gather firsthand feedback from beneficiaries. He specifically mentioned schemes related to education, healthcare, and financial assistance, urging officers to ensure their proper execution.

He instructed officials to utilize technology to improve monitoring and reduce leakages in welfare distribution. A grievance redressal mechanism should be strengthened to address public concerns promptly. He also emphasized the need for coordination between different departments to avoid duplication and ensure comprehensive coverage.

Vikramarka underscored the Congress government’s commitment to social justice and inclusive growth. He stated that the government intends to revamp existing schemes and introduce new initiatives to uplift marginalized sections of society.

The review meeting covered various aspects of administrative reforms, including improving work culture, promoting citizen-centric governance, and enhancing the efficiency of public services. Officers were encouraged to adopt innovative approaches and best practices to deliver better results. He also called for a focus on skill development and capacity building of government employees.

He warned against complacency and emphasized the need for continuous monitoring and evaluation to ensure that welfare schemes achieve their intended objectives and contribute to the overall development of the State.
