A construction worker from Tamil Nadu died from electrocution in Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka on May 16, 2024. The incident occurred at a construction site near Birur in Kadur taluk.
The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Kumar, a resident of Dharmapuri district, Tamil Nadu. He was working on the construction of a private building when he came into contact with a live electric wire.
According to police reports, the incident happened around 4:30 PM. Kumar was reportedly carrying construction materials when he accidentally touched a live wire, resulting in fatal injuries. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Birur, but was declared dead upon arrival.
The Kadur police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. They are examining whether safety protocols were followed at the construction site and if there was any negligence on the part of the construction company.
The body was handed over to relatives after the post-mortem examination. Authorities are working to facilitate the transportation of the body back to Kumar’s native village in Tamil Nadu.
