The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has withdrawn the controversial R-5 Zone notification, a move impacting land parcels near Amaravati. This zone, previously designated for residential use, faced legal challenges and concerns over its impact on farmers who participated in the land pooling scheme.
A CRDA panel, chaired by Ajay Jain, reviewed the Amaravati village rehabilitation and land pooling scheme, focusing on addressing grievances of farmers. Key decisions included resolving issues related to developed plots allotted to farmers, particularly concerning plot sizes and locations. The panel aims to ensure farmers receive plots as promised under the land pooling scheme.
Specifically, the panel discussed compensating farmers whose land was partially affected by roads and infrastructure development within the capital region. They are exploring options to provide additional compensation or alternative plots to these affected landowners.
The review also addressed concerns regarding the delay in providing basic amenities in the rehabilitation villages. The CRDA has committed to expedite the provision of infrastructure like roads, drinking water, and electricity in these areas.
Further, the panel considered requests for re-categorization of land use in certain areas, allowing for commercial development to enhance the value of farmers’ allotted plots. This is intended to provide better returns for farmers who surrendered their land for the capital’s construction.
The CRDA is actively working to resolve pending legal cases filed by farmers regarding the land pooling scheme. The panel emphasized the importance of a transparent and farmer-friendly approach in addressing all outstanding issues. The withdrawal of the R-5 Zone is seen as a positive step towards resolving disputes and restoring trust among farmers. The panel’s recommendations will be submitted to the state government for final approval and implementation. The overall goal is to ensure fair and equitable treatment for all farmers who participated in the land pooling scheme for the development of Amaravati.
