Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is on a three-day business trip to Gujarat, seeking to attract significant investments for the state. The visit focuses on bolstering Odisha’s industrial landscape and creating employment opportunities.
Patnaik’s itinerary includes meetings with top industry leaders across sectors like petrochemicals, downstream industries, metal & metal downstream, and renewable energy. Key engagements involve one-on-one meetings with heads of prominent companies such as Reliance Industries, Adani Group, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, and Welspun Group.
The primary objective is to showcase Odisha’s industrial policy – Industrial Policy Resolution 2022 – and highlight the state’s advantages, including a stable government, robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, and abundant natural resources. Specific focus areas for investment include the Paradip Refinery complex, the Dhamra Port industrial corridor, and the development of downstream industries linked to metal processing.
Odisha is particularly keen on attracting investments in green energy, aligning with its commitment to sustainable development. Discussions will center around opportunities in renewable energy production, including green hydrogen and ammonia.
A high-level delegation comprising senior government officials and industry representatives accompanies the Chief Minister. This delegation aims to facilitate potential collaborations and expedite project approvals.
Prior to Gujarat, Patnaik successfully secured investment commitments worth over ₹60,000 crore during a similar visit to Mumbai. The Gujarat trip is expected to further enhance Odisha’s investment portfolio and contribute to its economic growth. The state government anticipates signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various companies during or shortly after the visit, detailing specific investment plans and project timelines. The focus remains on converting these intentions into tangible projects on the ground.
