Telangana’s Hydrangea (Hyderabad Region Development Authority) has shut down 26 illegal stone crushing units and mining operations in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. The action follows complaints regarding environmental damage and violations of regulations.
These units were operating without necessary permissions from the Departments of Mines & Geology, Forest, and Pollution Control Board. Residents of Keesara, Ghatkesar, and Shamirpet mandals had lodged complaints about dust pollution, noise, and damage to roads due to heavy vehicle traffic associated with the illegal operations.
Hydrangea officials, along with police and revenue authorities, conducted raids across multiple locations. The units were found to be involved in illegal quarrying of stones and operating without environmental clearances. Equipment used in the illegal activities, including crushers, excavators, and tippers, were seized.
The crackdown was initiated based on a report submitted by the District Collector following public grievances. Hydrangea is focusing on preventing illegal activities that harm the environment and disrupt the quality of life for residents.
Officials stated that the seized equipment will be handed over to the relevant departments for further action. They also emphasized that strict action will be taken against anyone found to be involved in illegal mining or stone crushing activities in the future. The operation aims to restore environmental balance and ensure sustainable development in the region.
Hydrangea plans to continue monitoring the area and conduct regular inspections to prevent the resumption of illegal operations. The authorities are also working on a plan to rehabilitate the areas affected by the illegal mining activities. This includes measures to control dust pollution and restore vegetation.
